Sexual and Moral Harassment in the Workplace
Project funded by European Economic Area Financial Mechanism, EEA Grants, Programme PT 07 – Mainstreaming Gender Equality and Promoting Work-Life Balance.
PROJECT’S GOAL:
Make available objective and updated information on the phenomenon of harassment, sexual and moral, in the workplace in Portugal, supporting the public authorities, employers and workers as well as their representatives, in preventing and combating harassment at the workplace.
PROJECT’S OBJECTIVES:
- Make the diagnosis and characterisation of moral and sexual harassment in the labour market, in Portugal.
- Raise awareness regarding harassment at the workplace – sexual as well as moral.
- Exchange experiences and best practices between Portugal and Norway on harassment at the workplace.
PROJECT’S EXPECTED OUTCOMES:
- Updated diagnosis and characterisation of the Portuguese situation concerning moral and sexual harassment in the labour market.
- Increase awareness regarding harassment at the workplace on the victims or potential victims as well as all agents related with working conditions environment, such as labour inspectors, public prosecutors, judges, employers and workers representatives.
- Exchange experiences and promote mutual learning between Portugal and Norway on harassment at the workplace.
PROJECT’S ACTIVITIES:
Research:
Diagnosis and characterisation of sexual and moral harassment in the labour market, in Portugal:
- National survey on harassment at the workplace
- Comparative analysis of the survey results with the last survey, from 1994
Awareness and Training:
- Seminar on the findings of the survey on sexual and moral harassment in the labour market, in Portugal;
- Development of curricula and training material on harassment in the labour market for different targets.
- Pilot training.
Dissemination:
- Final Conference;
- Publication of the study and policy brief on harassment in the workplace.
- Publication of training materials.
- Web page on harassment at workplace.
BILATERAL COOPERATION:
Exchange of experiences and knowledge, discussion and joint reflection:
- Exchange experiences and practices between Portugal and Norway regarding moral and sexual harassment in the labour market.
- Bilateral meetings.
- Study tours.
PROJECT’S OUTPUTS:
- Study on sexual and moral harassment in the workplace in Portugal;
- Training manual on sexual and moral harassment in the workplace.
- Policy brief with the main indicators on sexual and moral harassment in the workplace in Portugal.
IMPLEMENTATION PERIOD:
- 28 months – From January 2014 to April 2016
